Renting for its second year in 2008, Red Creek Cottage is an immaculate and cozy three-bedroom, two-story cottage on the western shore of Seneca Lake 13 miles north of Watkins Glen and 22 miles south of Geneva. Nestled between wooded cliffs and a streambed with a drawbridge, only 50 feet from the lake, our cottage is the perfect retreat where you can truly relax with family and friends. Enjoy the quiet and privacy of our generous lake frontage (200 feet). We have a large shale beach, a large picnic table, a patio dining table and chairs with umbrella, lounge chairs, gas barbeque grill, fire circle, new 12-foot wooden rowboat, two canoes, fishing gear, life jackets, badminton and volleyball set, ping pong table, swing, croquet, swingball, and other recreational equipment. Why stay in a hotel room or a bed and breakfast when, for a comparable rate, you can have privacy and the use of a whole cottage right on the lake?

In addition to the privacy of our large yard, our property behind the cottage with the woods and stream extends back several acres. With the lake on one side and the woods on the other, you will enjoy peace and quiet and the feeling of being surrounded by nature. Relax with a book or a glass of local wine in the sunny front yard or in the shade of our many mature trees (a large willow, maples, firs, birches, a redbud and others). From noon onward the cottage is cooled by the shade of the woods and cliffs, and all day by the steady breeze off the lake. There are usually no mosquitoes because of the breeze and the purple martins. This classic cottage features - a wood-burning fireplace
- pine paneling
- picture windows across the entire downstairs, which can be
slid open for the breeze - a full kitchen with service for 12, microwave, coffee-
maker and coffee, toaster, blender, all pots and pans and cooking implements, staple goods and spices, and, for weekly rentals, basic groceries for your first night and morning
- a king-sized bed, six twin beds, and pull-out couches. (The twin beds can be attached to make
additional king-sized beds.) - a selection of cards, toys, games, and board games for
all ages - a library of reading material
- a library of family-friendly DVD's and an LCD
screen and computer for movies (no cable or Internet) - baby equipment including a high chair and porta-crib
- all new beds and living room furniture
- full insulation and electric heat

| About Seneca Lake The second deepest lake east of the Mississippi as measured by its depth below sea level, Seneca is over 600 feet deep and three miles across out in front of our cottage. (Right in front of our cottage it is shallow a long way out, great for young children.) At 38 miles long, Seneca Lake is the second longest of the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York, perfect for power-boating, fishing, sailing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailboarding, and other water sports. (View north from the front yard.) Click here for more information about Seneca Lake. We do not have a dock or boat lift at the moment, but you may launch your powerboard or sailboat at a public launch only 3 miles north of the cottage or at several marinas within a ten- or fifteen-minute drive. (See "Area Attractions" for more information.) | |
